Union Jack
At Rochester PR one of the aspects of our work that we find most rewarding is uncovering new media outlets for our clients, especially when they are a bit different, either in terms of content, format or geography. In this instance it was all three; the publication Union Jack, America’s only national British newspaper which describes itself as:
The monthly news source for the British community in the United States. With a 220,000-plus readership consisting of British ex-pats as well as holidaymakers and Anglophiles, the Union Jack has become part of the British landscape in the U.S.
In light of this and the fact that over 3.5 million Americans visit the UK each year we identified Union Jack as a great target that could help to boost tourist traffic and international awareness for our London and UK based clients L’atelier des Chefs, The Royal Hospital Chelsea and Crowd Behaviour Network.
We were then able to capitalise on the fact that two members of the Union Jack team are currently in London for the Olympics by inviting them to a Cook Eat and Run class at L’atelier des Chefs in advance of the launch of their Olympic themed classes on 27 July. The two journalists are also hoping to watch Chelsea Pensioner James Anderson run the Westminster leg of the Olympic Torch Relay on Thursday 26 July and interview Crowd Behaviour Network’s Rose Challenger either in her native Leeds or in the States where she is presenting at the Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics International Conference.
Watch this space for some great international coverage.
